The Fall's cover versions - also There's A Ghost In My House and Victoria - are wonderful and accessible, even if their original stuff is often less so.
Indeed, there is something to be said for the sub-genre of punk covers - see also Damned's Eloise, Sid Vicious's My Way, Captain Sensible's Happy Talk. Useful correctives to earnestness.
For me at was Way's version, as used in in Umbrella Academy. Especially the ticking clock motifs. It was simply perfect.
The best cover version of all time, however, must be The Fall's Lost in Music.

Completely bemused by the U-Tube links. Are they meant to go to a Paul Simon track?
They are to two cover versions of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Hazy_Shade_of_Winter - the lyrics of which were by Paul Simon. The Simon and Garfunkel original is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVA-1iJxRQI
I am sorry that was not clear.
