It’s a great name, and I love the explanation for it.

Some things can be liked equally.

For example, I like the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd* and Wishbone Ash.

I can't decide which is best.

I like both of them - equally.

So too with "lore and law" and "The Empty City".

I can't decide which is best.

I like both of them - equally.

Therefore, I'm very happy with "The Empty City" - I'm not irked at all.

*Lynyrd Skynyrd's final UK concert was in Birmingham (Resorts World Arena, previously Genting, and before that, LG), on Sunday, 30 June 2019. I was there (having also been at Wembley the evening before!).

No, not irked at all. Like both names, and also your reasoning for them.

An earlier version of this post missed out the "De" in front of De Chirico's name. I hope those who were irked by this error can forgive me.

Good evening. Apologies for posting this in probably the wrong place. Have you considered a post on the Ruth Perry inquest? I am interested in the way this has become a means of debating the role of Ofsted but there are legal parts of this I don’t fully understand.

I’m fine with the name and I’m much more bothered about and at the same time happy with the content. So keep it up, please. 🙂

I remember reading the C S Lewis books as a child, in particular the Magician's Nephew. In that, the main characters encounter the city of Charn, which is lifeless and empty. It's pretty much how I imagined that place to be.
